BOWDERDALE FARM COTTAGE
Situated in the Wasdale valley on the quieter side
of the Lake District, Bowderdale Farm Cottage is part of a traditional
working Lakeland farm.

Wasdale itself boasts England's deepest lake (Wastwater), England's
highest mountain (Scafell), England's smallest church (St Olaf's)
and England's biggest liar (home to the biggest liar competitions).

There are hundreds of walks right from the door of
Bowderdale Farm Cottage. The lake is a five minutes walk away or
you can go high up on the fells and mountains (the image above shows
Yewbarrow as seen from the farm track). There are many good swimming
spots on the shores of Wastwater which is one of the quieter lakes.
It is also the playground of rival diving clubs - gossip has it
that each club has gnomes on the lake bed, one of whom has a noose
around his neck resulting from an argument between two clubs. Wasdale
is also the birthplace of british climbing with excellent climbs
of all grades.
Wasdale: voted "Britain's favourite view" in 2007
by the general public
There are three pubs in the valley - Wasdale
Head in at the top of the lake (two miles), and the
Screes & the Strands (three miles) face each other on the
way to Gosforth Village (where you will find everyday provisions).
