| HOLLIN HEAD HOLIDAY COTTAGE
Situated in the heart of Eskdale, one of the most
tranquil valleys of the Lake District, Hollin Head is a traditional
Lakeland cottage that dates back as far as records began in 1586.
With stunning views up and down the valley of mountains to the east
and the Irish Sea to the west, the cottage is an ideal base for
exploring the fells, rivers, lakes and tarns of this beautiful part
of the world.

Eskdale is a wonderful starting point for hundreds of walks, either
on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk, which flows from
Scafell at the top of the valley down to the estuary at Ravenglass,
an old fishing village complete with a ruined Roman bath-house!
The river has natural pools for swimming and is a popular place
for canoeing and for fishing. The famous Ravenglass & Eskdale
Miniature Railway runs along the valley, its steam trains leisurely
making the seven mile journey down to the sea.

There are five pubs in the valley, three of which
are within walking distance of the cottage (the George
IV is just 15 mins walk), all welcoming children and serving
real ales and a wide choice of good food. The village shop and post
office, Eskdale
Stores, sells a comprehensive range of goods, including groceries,
fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go, alcohol and newspapers.
A public payphone is located 400 yards away from Hollin Head and
there is plenty of reception for mobile phones on the Orange network.
