| RANDLEHOW HOLIDAY COTTAGE
Randlehow Cottage is tucked away at the end of an
"access only" lane which houses some of Eskdale's oldest
cottages. One of the older cottages in Eskdale, Randlehow Cottage
was extensively refurbished in 2004 to create a dwelling that is
beautiful while still remaining extremely comfortable.

Eskdale is a wonderful starting point for hundreds
of walks, either on the fells or along the banks of the River Esk,
which flows from Scafell at the top of the valley down to the estuary
at Ravenglass, an old fishing village complete with a ruined Roman
bath-house! The river has natural pools for swimming and is a popular
place for canoeing and for fishing. The famous Ravenglass &
Eskdale Miniature Railway runs along the valley, its steam trains
leisurely making the seven mile journey down to the sea.
There are five pubs in the valley, two of which are
within walking distance of the cottage (George
IV and the Bower
House Inn), all welcoming children and serving real ales and
a wide choice of good food. The village
shop and post office is just a five minute walk up Randlehow
Lane and sells a comprehensive range of goods, including groceries,
fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go, alcohol and newspapers,
as well as outdoor clothes and equipment.
