| WHA HOUSE FARM COTTAGE
Welcome to Wha House Cottage. Set in the beautiful surroundings
of Upper Eskdale, Wha House is a working farm with approximately
800 sheep. The cottage is ideal for walkers wanting to explore the
quieter side of the Lakes. There are hundreds of walks right from
the door climb up Scafell (the highest mountain in England)
or Harter fell, or hike across the fells to Wasdale and Wastwater
(the deepest lake in England), or follow the valley bottom, alongside
the river Esk, past Stanley Gyhll waterfall and on to Ravenglass
Estuary. Pets are welcome and riders who would like to bring their
horse to explore the countryside can house their horse on the farm
itself.

The Woolpack
Inn is a 10 minute walk away and serves good food and real ales.
Boot village with its small shop, the Burnmoor
Inn and Poachers
Bar (both of which also serve food and real ale) is around a
half hour walk. There are two other pubs in Eskdale, the George
IV and the Bower
House Inn (10 and 15 minute drive). Eskdale also has a village
shop which sells a comprehensive range of goods, including groceries,
fresh fruit and vegetables, food to go, alcohol and newspapers.
